    Default Pre Sale questions

hi, I have downloaded your free version of the link exchange and it is fantastic. I am considering buying the pro version but I have two "wants" especially that I see so far and would like to know if they are in the paid version:
    1. Be able to "order" the links and category displays

    2. and also have "All" links displayed per page rather than having to choose a maximum of 50

    3. I would also like to be able to display random, latest, featured etc displays as 'tables, meaning, like the virtuemart featured products which is defined by admin so many items per row and how many rows. this is a future suggestion maybe.

are these first two items covered in the pro version?

it might be good to make a comparison chart of free version features versus upgrade to help people like me who may want to buy, but can't tell what's the upgrade features?

thanks though for the great version already!

edit: I see now that also being able to put html or ubb in the text link description would be VERY handy - is this a feature of pro? this is really a big feature needed so I can list a banner and text where I would like to!

AND in module - choice of type to display will pro include a choice of text/banner in addition to two way/one way?

1.Be able to "order" the links and category displays
It is certainly possible to order categories in JV-LD (the paid version as you refer)

It is not possible to order the links manually, but there are options to order them by published date, rating, votes etc.. via options in backend. JV-LD also provides a feature of STICKY links, where by you can stick important links to the top of the listing on all pages!

2.and also have "All" links displayed per page rather than having to choose a maximum of 50
In JV-LD, you dont have a dropdown to select the number of links per page. Instead, you have a text field, where you can key in any number. In your case, you can key in something like 100 to 200 (as large as possible practically) to see all links in a page.

3.I would also like to be able to display random, latest, featured etc displays as 'tables, meaning, like the virtuemart featured products which is defined by admin so many items per row and how many rows. this is a future suggestion maybe.
We can certainly take it as a feature request for the coming versions. We will like to discuss about this with you as well, as we plan to implement them in the future.

We have just completed a major upgrade of our website and right now slowly rearranging things. We will certainly add this comparison.

I see now that also being able to put html or ubb in the text link description would be VERY handy - is this a feature of pro? this is really a big feature needed so I can list a banner and text where I would like to!
Are you saying that, text link description field in add link screen is allowing HTML? Please confirm. Can you please refer me to the page, where you see this.

AND in module - choice of type to display will pro include a choice of text/banner in addition to two way/one way?
Certainly Yes and has even more additional options too!

    Thanks

ok, that seems like a good feature for future version too. like with my articles I usually choose "order, order" since I am "detail oriented", and like to have that fine tooth control. in fact, I hacked the virtuemart main menu for just such capability (I think it's still in the forums there), but it had an ordering column, just wrong selection.

the sticky feature is a great idea!

nope it is not allowing html or ubb, that is what I was saying I would like it to do. or maybe a text field to go along with the banners setting?

to explain better: I would like to have a banner AND a description for some links.

I have not yet looked to see how hard it would be to hack myself but I figure there is some reason that it is not rendering the html and is passing through the ubb - or one or the other would have worked right off.

and thanks again for such quick replies and thorough answers. =)

well they are a little hard to see but virtuemart can be kind of confusing to find settings in if you aren't familiar with it so I have taken a couple screen shots to illustrate what I meant about the table settings. in this way depending on the type of template you are using or your desires you can manage the display format.

in this picture you can see that you set the "y" with number of products in a row, here you can see "4":
    Attachment 221

then (after saving!) you click on Configuration as shown in blue above and on this next screen you add the total number you want displayed ( basically "x times y" keeps it even - so it then divides by y to get number of rows displayed). Here it is "8":
    Attachment 220

in the example above the module displays 2 rows of 4.

and here is the ordering fix I mentioned elsewhere, if you might find it of interest:

In JV-LD, a profile for a link, can be a banner profile (with banner image) or a text profile (text title, description and a small image icon). Currently we do not allow HTML to be a part of the description. But we can certainly make the change such that, HTML can be allowed when adding links via JV-LD backend. Once you purchase the product and set it up, please let us know and we will make this change for you!

    Thanks

I just signed up. if it would be possible to get this html enabled version I would really like and appreciate that. =)

Also, I am curious about the upgrade from the free version...do I have to do a full install or are there just some patch files?

I've never joined one of these clubs before so forgive me my ignorance.

I already made an install of the public version that I mod'd a little that you can see here.

If the number of links is less (something like 6 to 7 or less than that), then it is easier to setup JV-LD and then manually add the links and categories, as you can configure lots of options when you configure them manually instead of moving data from JV-LE to JV-LD.

What you want is to allow HTML in partner link description field. Kindly confirm, so that we can provide you the modified files for this.

    Thanks

I am going to post the answer to the html in description request on the other board...

    -------------------------------------------------------------
as to patching vs. new installation, I have gone with new installation and will just look to change again the display modifications I've made so far on the other. I'm editing settings now. thank you very much for all of your help!

I posted a review at joomla but they have not updated review approvals for a few days I don't think.
