Last month The Joomla! Project issued two Requests for proposals. One is for major events and one is for management of the demo site. We are happy to report that a number of promising preliminary proposals for major events and proposals for managing the demo site were submitted.

For major events preliminary expressions of interest were received from 7 groups (in alphabetical order):
    • Battle Creek, MI, USA
    • Chicago, IL USA
    • Florence, Venice, Bologna, Italy
    • Melbourne, Australia
    • Palma de Mallorca, Spain
    • São Paulo, Brasil
    • Toledo, Spain
The teams are now discussing their proposals in the events forum and on a public readable mailing list. Each group has been asked to start its own thread in the forum and there is also a thread for general discussion of major events. Let's hear your ideas and let them influence how these events are designed. Full proposals are due 3 January 2010.

For the demo site, four proposals were received. These are from (in alphabetical order) CloudAccess.net, GoDaddy, SiteGround, and WebHostingBuzz. They are being reviewed now.

The more information you can provide, the better chances of finding someone actually qualified for the position.
