We have been working very hard recently to port JV-LinkDirectory (or JV-LD) to Joomla! 1.6 and find that lots of things have indeed changed in Joomla! 1.6. It is taking more time than expected due to lack of complete documentation for Joomla! 1.6. But we are happy to say that, we have been progressing at a good pace and we should be able to complete the development (or porting?) in another week's time.
We had interesting observation during this porting which I want to share with all. After porting a part of the product, we deployed it on Joomla! 1.6 website to take a first look and what we saw baffled us – The table borders were all visible and all of the margins and padding were screwed beyond imagination while seeing JV-LD frontend in the default Joomla! 1.6 beez template.
The Joomla! 1.6 default template forced borders for tables and rows. It had also set margin and padding to 0 and had even assigned a border color. I am sure any component would look initially bad on Joomla! 1.6 default templates and I am surprised that, it has been done this way in Joomla! 1.6 default templates.
Now even to proceed, we had to fix the template first
