In this article, you will learn how to migrate JV-LinkExchanger from a Joomla 2.5 website to Joomla 3.x website

Please follow the instructions below to move all JV-LinkExchanger data and settings stored in database tables from your existing JV-LinkExchanger installation in Joomla! 2.5 website to your Joomla! 3.x website:

You must be using the latest 2.x version of JV-LinkExchanger component on your Joomla! 2.5 website to do this data migration. If not please upgrade to the latest 2.x version first on your Joomla 2.5 website. You may download this version from Downloads area.

Pre-Requisites:

  1. Access to database manager like phpmyadmin
  2. Access to file manager in Cpanel or FTP access to your Joomla! 2.5 and Joomla! 3.x websites
  3. Admin access to Joomla! 2.5 and Joomla! 3.x websites

Migration Steps:

  1. Go to phpmyadmin of your J3.x site. This is for managing your mysql database.
  2. Delete all tables that have _jvle_ in them.
  3. Export jv-le tables from Joomla 2.5 database into a file.
  4. Import the file into J3.x database thus creating the tables in your Joomla 3.x db.
  5. Make sure that the table prefix used in J3.x db matches with the imported jv-le tables. If not change the prefix for JV-LE tables to match with the rest of the tables in joomla 3.x.
  6. Install the latest JV-LE 3.x component on J3.x. JV-LE will automatically upgrade your db to latest version
  7. Copy/FTP the images in {Joomla 2.5 site}/images/com_jvle/banners folder to {Joomla 3.x site}/images/com_jvle/banners folder
