JV-HelpDesk 2.4 is a feature, enhancements and bug fix release with a host of changes. By default, all changes were introduced for Pro version unless it is specifically called out for Free version below.

Features:

  • Group Tickets - Users of the same Joomla user group can view and reply to tickets
  • Ability to mark a reply as confidential in Public and Group Tickets
  • File Downloads - Provide file downloads facility to Help Desk users
  • Blurbs or Canned Responses for Staff members
  • Comprehensive Permission based matrix system
  • Integration with Community Builder
  • Allow super users to access any ticket from front-end or back-end
  • Options for categories to decide the type of tickets that can be created in them viz. Private, Public or Groups

Enhancements:

  • Ability to create template file overrides - Applies to Free version as well
  • Ability to show tickets of a specific chosen category in front-end in view ticket list
  • Ability to allow certain user groups to select priorities while creating ticket and changing priority for a ticket
  • Associate email addresses to categories so that they are notified when new tickets are opened in them
  • Option to enable or disable tags
  • Option to enable or disable sending emails
  • Include ticket link in ticket email
  • Show full path with category name while choosing a category in new ticket form
  • Show number of open, pending, and other status ticket count in dashboard (except for Closed status)
  • Improve the look and feel of front-end
  • Include message in the email that user must visit the ticket on the site to update the same.
  • Disable a category for selection for new ticket when that category does not allow any ticket visibility
  • Show all public tickets including those created by logged in user in Public Discussions tab as well
  • Show all group tickets including those created by logged in user in Group Discussions tab as well
  • Option to view replies with oldest at top, to most recent at the top in ticket in front-end
  • Change display position of the “Post a Reply” button based on reply sort order
  • Option to use short or long url in emails

Bugs Fixed:

  • Average First Response Time includes timezone differences as well in calculation
  • MySQL 5.7 compatibility issues - Applies to Free version as well
  • Replies and Tickets tables are not being deleted upon un-installation - Applies to Free version as well
  • Fixes in like in replies
  • Error: Trying to get property 'created_by' of non-object in administrator/components/com_jvhelpdesk/tables/reply.php on line 83 - Applies to Free version as well
  • SMS via Clickatell does not work in USA. Two way messaging is not working
  • MySQL Error when staff group chosen in configuration has no members in it - Applies to Free version as well
  • Max number of open tickets is set to 5 in demo site, but error message says 30 in it
  • Incorrect time mentioned in ticket item - Applies to Free version as well
  • Ticket Types are shown as empty for staff members when they cut tickets in front-end
  • Attachments file extensions are case sensitive. File extension PNG does not work - Applies to Free version as well
  • Search fails when there are no members of groups and group tickets are enabled
  • Rules ordering is not set when saving a rule, and Rules are not picked up by ordering while deciding ticket assignment 
  • getAuthorisedGroups returns array that is not contiguous - Applies to Free version as well
  • Error encountered when changing category in new ticket form
  • Notice error in showVisibilityMsg when private ticket is chosen
  • joomla.edit.params fatal error with joomlart templates in new ticket form
  • language string is duplicated
  • tmp path in configuration.php is not respected by JV-HD for debug file creation
  • Revised logic for calculation of IP address
  • JvhelpdeskCats is a duplicate. Removed that in favor of category in extension com_jvhelpdesk
  • Pagination bug in backend in Files
  • Category selection filter in backend files section does not appear
  • Files listing in frontend are not filterable or grouped well
  • Not all tags created in JV-HD are routing to proper results when clicked in module
  • SQL Error in edit reply in frontend and backend
